NANJING — On Oct. 1, as China celebrated the founding of the People’s Republic, millions of tourists flooded the many hallowed historic sites, mystic mountains and breathtaking scenic wonders across the country.

Most Chinese get an entire week off to celebrate, and most of them use it to travel.

During the summer, Nanjing is famous for being one of China’s notorious “oven cities”, and in the winter, Nanjing is notoriously cold and lacks heaters in most buildings. But during Guo Qing Jie, the weather is perfect for sightseeing.
